The PSAT is a critical test to support college preparedness. It is offered each October and is open to students in grades 7 and above. It is a practice SAT and mimics the questions and testing conditions of the actual test.
For us, the PSAT is imperative for the following reasons:
1) We receive good data around student ability;
2) Students can practice without fear of colleges seeing what they are doing; and
3) We are able to analyze college prep efforts that we implement and those from our clients’ high schools.
For 11th graders, we use information from the PSAT to tailor our test prep curriculum that begins in January.
An important part of our strategy is to ensure students take the SAT the least number of times as possible. The PSAT is extremely important in supporting that effort especially as we determine where students are in their English and math proficiencies.
For students in grade 11, the PSAT also allows them to compete for the National Merit Scholarship and other awards.
PSAT Prep is designed to provide students with the basics around the SAT including strategy. Students will have time to ask questions, workshop around the test, and do some practice questions.
Admissions to PSAT Prep also includes an analysis of the score report and suggestions for further preparation.
