Capital Architecture Lab

Building companies that solve social problems.

We believe founders should first build organizations capable of creating measurable impact and sustainable businesses.

Capital Architecture Lab is Taller Hoy's venture studio for mission-driven startups working at the intersection of technology, education, and social impact.

Rather than functioning solely as consultants, we become strategic partners in designing the infrastructure that allows social ventures to scale.

Our Philosophy

Social problems deserve more than good intentions.

Many founders deeply understand the communities they serve but need support translating those insights into products, organizations, research, fundraising strategies, and sustainable business models.

Others build impressive technology without sufficient understanding of the problem itself.

Capital Architecture Lab bridges both worlds.

We combine:

  • Product strategy

  • Research

  • Human-centered design

  • Educational expertise

  • Organizational development

  • Messaging and positioning

  • AI implementation

  • Go-to-market strategy

to help founders build organizations capable of lasting impact.

Human-Centered AI

Taller Hoy develops AI systems that intentionally distinguish between historical patterns and aspirational outcomes. Historical data often reflects inequitable systems rather than equitable possibilities. Our work explores how machine learning can be designed to recognize systemic inequities while supporting more just predictions, recommendations, and interventions.

This work draws upon Critical Race Theory, algorithmic justice, and scholarship by thinkers including Safiya Noble, Ruha Benjamin, Michelle Alexander, and the founder's graduate research at the University of Chicago.

We help organizations develop the systems investors, partners, and customers need to see.

Examples include:

  • Product strategy

  • User research

  • Pilot design

  • Assessment development

  • AI product architecture

  • Educational frameworks

  • Organizational messaging

  • Grant strategy

  • Impact measurement

  • Executive thought partnership

  • Board and investor preparation

What We Build

How We Partner

Every engagement is different.

Depending on the organization, Taller Hoy may serve as:

  • Fractional Product Team

  • Fractional Research Team

  • Strategic Advisor

  • Educational Design Team

  • Messaging and Communications Partner

  • Human-Centered Design Partner

In some cases, we work on a consulting basis.

For ventures with long-term alignment, we may also accept equity as part of our compensation.

We believe that when we help build lasting value, we should have the opportunity to participate in that value alongside founders.

Featured Collaboration

NoCap

NoCap is developing technology designed to improve access to higher education for underserved students through artificial intelligence. This is timely; greater restrictions on federal funding has outsized impacts on underserved students.

While the opportunity is large it also requires finesse. The last thing underserved students need is more debt.

Taller Hoy serves as NoCap's strategic venture partner, supporting product development and organizational growth through:

  • Product strategy

  • Human-centered design

  • Research leadership

  • Assessment design

  • Educational expertise

  • AI implementation strategy

  • Messaging and positioning

  • Long-term organizational planning

Our role is not simply to advise; we help build the systems that allow mission-driven organizations to grow responsibly and sustainably.

Why This Model Exists

Social ventures are often expected to choose between two paths:

Build a sustainable business.

Or solve a meaningful social problem.

We reject that false choice.

Capital Architecture Lab exists to help founders build organizations capable of doing both.

We help founders design organizations worthy of the trust they ask people to place in them.
