What Did I Lift Today (8/19)?
I did about 300 pounds on the leg press. That is about 90 pounds less than my max when I was in college. I am really proud of myself for that.
But I’m more proud of where I struggled. I’ve always had a hard time with certain exercises namely push-ups and pull-ups. It makes no sense because I can lift heavy on back, shoulders, and chest, most of the time.
So on this day, the trainer asked if I wanted to try them. I said yes. She explained it to me: I should be at a slight angle and aim for my chest, not be perfectly vertical. And I did four sets of three, assisted. That’s a big deal for me.
In many ways, I feel stronger now than I did when I was on my college track team.
